So 2010 is finally over and I for one am very thankful for that. It started off with a continuation of sleep problems I had been dealing with. Every day was filled with exhaustion and stress from my crappy job. After a few months I thought I was given some positive news. One of my co-workers got me an interview for a security position at a facility that he worked at. The pay was great and the hours were perfect for me. I met with his boss and things went well, I was told that the position was mine and I had to meet with his boss to fill out paperwork. So I met with this second gentleman who also seemed to like me and agreed that the position was mine once my background check had cleared. I knew that my background check would be fine so I went ahead and quit my horrible job. My background check never happened however. This guy got a promotion the day after I met with him and he never sent in my paperwork. I waited for about a week before hearing from his replacement who told me that he was trying to get the work done, but was having a problem with my social security number. He told me that it was my responsibility to have it checked out, but didn't tell me how to go about this. I spent the next few days trying to contact the social security offices but no progress was made. I called back the security office and was told that I was taking too long and they hired someone else. Now I'm left without a job for the remainder of the year. I haven't found work anywhere despite applying practically everywhere possible. The remainder of my year was about the same...trying to find work and not much else happening. December rolls around and my car decides to stop running. I can't afford to take it anywhere so now it sits in my driveway. Then one day while I'm sleeping, I hear glass shattering...I run into my kitchen to find our large sliding glass door completely destroyed and a man looking about my age (19) standing there. He runs and I call the police to have him arrested. Apparently, he broke into my car and took a baseball bat that I had left in the trunk from playing ball with my younger brother. He used this to smash in the door. My family's insurance won't cover the damage, and we are left with a boarded up hole in the wall.
Those were the highlights of my year. Nothing positive I can think of to note. Somehow typing everything out and reading it makes me feel better about 2011.....End Rant.
